The camp is designed in the style of the typical Indian churuatas built on a huge granite rock in complete harmony with nature and totally with local materials. It has ten (10) comfortable double and triple cabins each of two levels with private bathroom, fan and mosquito nets. It has a large hut overlooking the Orinoco river in which there is the kitchen, the dining room (seats 35 people approx) and the bar, this hut covers the social area of the camp. The Caura is the third largest river in Venezuela with a length of about 725 km, and is the second main tributary of the Orinoco River. The Caura watershed is protected by the largest forest reserve in Venezuela which has an area of 5 million hectares. The main attraction of this area is the spectacular Salto Pará, where the river divides and falls into seven huge gullies. Caura Camp is located 250 km southwest of Ciudad Bolivar, Bolivar state, on the outskirts of the village of trenches, right along the Caura River.
Camp is a picturesque and pleasant refuge colonial style house in the middle of the rainforest. It has six (6) double rooms each with private bathroom, fan and mosquito nets, a large kitchen where they prepare delicious meals and a lounge. For the more adventurous have the option of sleeping in hammocks with mosquito netting. There is a terrace with a beautiful view over the river Caura ideal to have meals and spend time relaxing, admiring the beautiful scenery and amazing granite rocks that emerge from the stream. Fishing, swimming in the river, bird watching or simply explore the forest are just some of the possibilities to enjoy the day. The camp has a generator which operates between 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm.
Caura Camp offers several all-inclusive tours and packages, among them are: Crab Hill, which is a pleasant walk to the hilltop where it has a beautiful view of the Caura River and rainforest. The most famous of our trips is the jump for the tour , which consists of a three-day trek along the river Caura up to the awesome and amazing Salto Pará, where we have a camp in a place called paradise Playon.
