NATURAL MONUMENT TETA of Niquitao-GUIRIGAY | Location: | Trujillo State | Area: | 18,000 hectares. |
Declaration: | Decree No. 1473 dated 4 September 1996. Official Gazette No. 36,063 dated 11 October 1996. | Protected ecosystems and relevant natural attractions: | Moors, moors and sub-cloud forests, headwaters of rivers and numerous creeks. Presence of archaeological objects. | Tourist attractions: | It represents a unique landscape formed by two hills: the Niquitao, the highest in the state of Trujillo, and the gibberish; characterized by rugged terrain and steep slopes with elevations between 2,000 and 4006 meters over sea level. This natural monument can be seen lakes, caves and archaeological samples of great historical value. Among the sites of greatest interest is the Mole of the Teta de Niquitao from where, in clear weather can be observed Guaramacal National Parks, Sierra Nevada , Sierra La Culata and Dinira. Another interesting site is located in Laguna Las Farias Guirigay hill. |
