NATURAL MONUMENT LAGUNA OF MARIT
Location:	Isla Margarita, Nueva Esparta State
Area:	3674 hectares.
Declaration:	Decree No. 1633 of 27 February 1974. Gaceta Oficial No. 30,342 of the 02nd of March 1974.
Management Plan and Rules of Use:	Decree No. 2339 of 5 June 1992. Official Gazette No. 4548 of 26 March 1993.
Protected ecosystems and relevant natural attractions:	Lagoon and mangroves.
Tourist attractions:	It is a shallow lagoon connected to sea by two narrow mouths, with numerous canals and streams where the vegetation is predominantly mangrove.
Activities Permitted:	Walking in small boats or peñeros, nature watching, hiking the trails bordering the lagoon research.
Prohibited Activities:	Anchoring boats in the lagoon, fishing for sport or commercial extraction of flora and fauna.
