Turtle Lodge - Lagoon Tacarigua

Avila National Park:
Behind our hotel Costa Real Suites have beautiful as custodian Avila National Park and the tourist town of Galipán, famous for its cuisine and beauty of mountain landscapes.
El Avila National Park is located in the central zone of the Coastal Range, includes the mountainous area between the Caribbean Sea and the valleys of Caracas, Guatire, Guarenas and Barlovento. Politically covers areas in Vargas State (north side), Capital District (south side) and Miranda (both sides at this point).
Forest Park extends from east to west along a row of mountains 80 km long and about 16 km wide. In its 81,800 ha, comprising various ecosystems Ávila distributed in an altitudinal gradient ranging from 120 meters above sea level at the lowest point of the slope north to the 2765 meters at its highest point in the Peak Naiguatá. These ecosystems include savannah woodlands that appear on the southern slope from 800 m and sometimes reaching 1200 meters on the north side in the lower areas, the vegetation is predominantly xerophytic, with many species of shrubs and thorny cardonales. Also at the north side, between 300 and 600 meters high, are deciduous forests tropófilos, followed by semi-deciduous seasonal forest between 600 to 800 m.
Humidity levels are increased with altitude, and from 800 m to 1,500 m in the north side and in the range of 1.200-1.600 masl in the southern slope, the forests are considered evergreen submontane. Until about 2200 meters of altitude, the condensation produced by the constant flow of cool air and the decrease in atmospheric pressure, allowing the establishment of rain forest. From 2200 m to the highest peaks, the vegetation is characteristic of sub-páramo, adapted to the water conditions in this region own disadvantage in height. The climate in El Avila is very varied, depending on the altitudinal. The fauna of El Ávila National Park is highly diverse. Among the nine bird species are endemic to Venezuela.
In the forests of Ávila are mammals such as monkeys araguato (Alouatta seniculus), the three fingers of sloth (Bradypus variegatus), the armadillo (Dasypus novencinctus), the porcupine (Coendou prehensilis), the anteater (Tamandua tetradactyla), the fox (thous Cerdocyon), squirrel (Sciurus granatensis), weasels (Mustela frenata), the lapa (Agouti paca) and the tapir or tapir (Tapirus terrestris).

In Ávila have registered more than 1,800 plant species, but some botanists believe that the figure could reach 2,000 species.
