Declaration:
Ordinance No. 1591 setting from 06th February 1974.

According to the Gazette E No. 5288 of 13 January 1999.
Protected ecosystems and important natural attractions:
Grasslands and coastal shrubland, coastal mangroves. A complex system of lagoons and mangroves such high ecological and scenic value. m, Wildlife: Habitat of Margarita's flagship parrot (Amazona barbadensis), large numbers of seabirds and migratory and resident coastal ru like flamenco (Phoenicopterus ruber). Sea turtles nest on the beaches of the levee.
Wildlife:
Fauna associated with mangrove roots as the oyster (Crassostrea rhizophorae), a variety of important fish-scale fishing; rabbit (Sylvilagus floridanus margaritae), deer (Odocoileus virginianus margaritae) and ocelot (Felis pardalis).
Flora:
These four species of mangrove (Rhizophora mangle, Avicennia nitida, Laguncularia racemosa, Conocarpus erectus). Vegetation typical of arid and cactus, mesquite yaque (Prosopis juliflora), dividive (pa Caesalpinia coriaria), guamacho (Pereskia guamacho) and the guasábara tuna (Opuntia caribaea).
Water resources:
Drainage into the lake northeast flank of Mount Macanao RE.

  • Embarcadero El Indio.
  • Playa El Dump.
  • Playa El Saco.
  • Playa El Muerto.
  • Laguna Pasadero.
  • Playa La Restinga.
  • Coves of El Coco and La Guardia.
Activities Permitted:
Tours through trail and marked routes, navigation or tours around the area of the lagoon and canals, encamped. Outdoor activities, water activities such as windsurfing, sailing, swimming, surfing, nature observation, typical boat ride (peñeros), rowing, ecotourism, bird watching, picnic, rides horses and trot.
Prohibited Activities:
Commercial fishing, hunting, abandon or dispose of garbage and solid waste in the fields, carry firearms, the practice of nautical activities within the area of the lake, use of jet skiing, jet skis and water skiing, mooring of boats mangroves.
Schedules and fares:
Visiting hours at the park is between 08:30 am to 04:00 pm To access the park visitors must cancel the tariff of Bs 500. Parking: light vehicle Bs 300, Busetas Bs 500, Bs heavy vehicle 900. Tents Bs 2,000.
