Falcon State.
Area:
20,000 hectares.
Declaration:
Decree No. 1550 from 06th May 1987.
Gaceta Oficial No. 33,715 of 12 May 1987.
Protected ecosystems and important natural attractions:
Wildlife:
Guacharo (Oilbird) tailed emerald (Chlorostilbon alice), red-beaked parrot (Pionus sordidus), peak emerald bottle (sulcatus Groove-billed), iguana (Iguana iguana), lizards and snakes.
Flora:
In the lowland forests are the tiamo (Acacia glomerosa), Guam (Inga spurea), the crosshead (Randia aculeata), the guaritoto (Urera caracasana) and ajito (Capparis verrucvsa) and more humid forest, the Tacamahaca (Protium tovarense) tapataparo (Graffenriera latifolia), quinine (Ladenbergia moritziana) lechocillo (Carica microcarpa) and various palms: palm shadow (Geonoma undata), cane mill (Chamaedorea pinnatifrons) and palm PrApa (Wettinia praemorsa).
Water resources:
Mitar river basins, Acurigua, rich and Hueque. Exceptional water system by the existence of a vast underground aquifer that occupies the central part of the saw.
Tourist attractions:
  • Cerro Galicia.
  • Hueque Cave.
  • Acarite River Cave, the largest underground lake in extension in Venezuela
  • The interpretation trail of Guarataro Haitón.
  • Spanish highways Bucaral sector.
  • The Micro Hoya of Curimagua where there are caves with large rooms, pits and galleries.
  • Cascade rivers Hueque Rico.
  • Coy-Coy Caves de Uria, The Dolorita and Pereguey (difficult access).
Activities Permitted:
Hiking, walking, photography, nature observation, scientific research.
Prohibited Activities:
Hunting, commercial fishing, mining plant, sporting competitions, motorcycle traffic in the roads or droves, carrying firearms or any other that may cause damage to natural resources, expense and consumption of alcoholic beverages, introducing exotic species wildlife.
Schedules and fares:
To enter the recreational area must pay the fee of Bs 1,000.
