Wildlife: | The Guacharo (Oilbird) is a conspicuous inhabitants of the park. Other birds seen are the emerald Bottle Peak (Aulachorhynchus sulcatus), the troupial (Icterus icterus) and endemic species like the fafa Gargantiblanca (Premnoplex tater), the black Diglossa (Diglossa venezuelensis), El Chivi Cabecigrís (Basileuterus griseiceps) and wing de sable gris (Campylopterus largipennis). Many other animals inhabit the region: tapirs (Tapirus ierrestris), puma (Puma concolor), ocelot (Felis pardalis), howler monkeys (Alouatta seniculus) and capuchin (Cebus sp.). | Flora: | Abundant legumes as bucare (Erythrina sp.) Matapalo (Ficus sp.) Platanillo (Byrsonima martinicensis). | Water resources: | Carinicuao Rios, Caripe High Guarapiche the Caribbean basin, the rivers Black Cerre Caripe and drain into the Gulf of Paria. In some deep canyons and gorges are some waterfalls like those of Chorrerón, Rio Grande and the spark. |
