TOURIST ATTRACTIONS NATURAL NATIONAL PARKS AND MONUMENTS
Avila National Park: Decreed on 12 December 1958 and is located in the heart of Caracas, in the mountainous stretch of the Cordillera de la Costa. The northern border, opposite the Caribbean coast, stretching about 120 meters elevation and the southern border in the area of Caracas ranging from Tacagua Gorge to the town of Guatire in Miranda State. It is a natural wall separating the coast from the valleys of Caracas. It is much visited by athletes, walkers, hikers, explorers and others who wish to escape the routine of the city. Its steep slopes are leading to the formation of streams and waterfalls. Offers several floors of vegetation such as xerophilous forest, savanna mountain Andean cloud forest and scrubland. National Park Macarao: It was established on 05 December 1973. It is located in the Libertador municipality of the Capital District and the Municipality of San Pedro Miranda. It covers the entire basin of the rivers and Macarao San Pedro and El Jarillo or Lagunetas. The landscape is typical of the Coastal Range slopes not too steep.
